Kemper Corp. said that it estimates that its second quarter 2016 results will include pre-tax catastrophe losses of approximately $52 million. The company said it does not expect to recover any of these losses under its catastrophe reinsurance program.
While the losses were related to a number of storms, the company noted that one hail storm in north Texas in mid-April heavily impacted its policyholders in that area.
Kemper said it will issue its second quarter 2016 earnings release on Aug. 4 after markets close.
