Scottsdale’s Underwriting Senior VP Tiepelman to Retire

June 24, 2015

Scottsdale Insurance Co. announced that Gary Tiepelman, senior vice president of Contract and Professional Lines Underwriting, is retiring in August.

Hired by founder Rollie Wiegers in 1982 as the company’s thirteenth employee, Tiepelman helped grow Scottsdale Insurance from nothing to a $3 billion company.

“I am sad to lose such a key member of my team. Gary is a strong leader, a good friend, and he will be missed,” Scottsdale President Mike Miller said.

Executive Vice President Tom Clark will serve as the interim leader of Contract and Professional Lines Underwriting until a successor is named, the company said.

Scottsdale is owned by Nationwide.
