Passionate About Insurance and Writing? This May Be Your Opportunity

By | December 3, 2009

Insurance is one of the most important industries in the U.S. and other nations. This is not hyperbole; without insurance, we couldn’t enjoy much of the stuff to which we have grown accustomed: jobs, homes, cars or “toys.” Yes, insurance is that important.

Those who choose a career in insurance, on purpose or by accident, find it intriguing and rewarding. How many other industries allow you to learn so much about so many different industries? How many offer an opportunity to become a trusted advisor?

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 2.3 million people work in the U.S. insurance industry. That’s quite a crowd desiring or needing current and accurate information on insurance coverages, trends and markets.

How would you like to be in a position to influence the entire insurance industry in a positive direction by providing the needed specifics?

¾ÅÉ« is just the place for the right insurance professional wanting to take his or her career in a new direction, influence the world of insurance and learn a lot along the way. We are currently in need of an associate editor.

Our new associate editor will be charged with, among other duties, providing our readers with high-quality, technical property/casualty insurance information in a clear and concise manner. “Technical” is defined to include analysis of coverages and forms, market trends and underwriting practices. This editor should also be able to communicate the insurance implications of current events, regulations and court decisions.

This is a unique role requiring a unique person. Rather than a professional writer who can write about property/casualty insurance, we need a passionate property/casualty insurance professional who can research and write — and truly enjoys doing so. If you have property/casualty insurance industry teaching experience, all the better.

One of the advantages of this job is you can work from home.

Eighteen months ago I accepted a similar challenge, and what a career move it has been. In the past 18 months I have learned more about insurance coverage forms, laws and the industry in general than at any point in my previous 18 years of industry experience. In my short career with ¾ÅÉ«, I have had the opportunity to write and publish two insurance books (with a third on the way) and have received invitations to speak all over the country. (On a side note, I also have GREAT bosses.)

If you are passionate about insurance and all of its intricacies and you would like to explore this opportunity further, view this job opening.
