Leading figures in financial services will convene for a one-time Regulatory Reform Summit at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C. on Feb. 10-11.
Participants can take part in critical discussions with policymakers, industry executives, government relations leaders and others who are gathering to address the key issues regarding reform of financial services regulation in America. It’s a cross-sector, cross-party collaboration, which will reportedly serve to create a stimulating, idea-sharing environment that fosters informed decision making – a central part of ISU Networks’ mission.
The Summit will focus on potential changes in the way that insurance and mutual funds are regulated. Confirmed speakers include Sen. John Sununu, member of both the Senate Banking and Commerce Committees; Rep. Richard Baker, chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance and Government-Sponsored Entities; Wayne Abernathy, assistant secretary for Financial Institutions at the Dept. of the Treasury; and Kathy Casey, staff director and counsel to the Senate Banking Committee. Former Rep. Rick Lazio, who now heads the Financial Services Forum, will also play a key role in the mutual fund discussion.
Indiana State University launched the NetWorks Institute for Financial Services in 2003 with the support of the Lilly Endowment. The Institute’s mission is to facilitate broad, collaborative thinking, dialogue, and progress on important issues facing the financial services industries.
