Fireman’s Fund McGee Marine Underwriters is making FOCUS(SM), its new e-solution for managing ocean cargo insurance, available to agents/brokers and their clients on a nationwide basis.
The FOCUS Solution, which stands for Fireman’s Fund Online Cargo Underwriting System, is an Internet-based system that enables users to perform a wide range of cargo insurance-related tasks. Functions include: issuing electronic certificates; reporting shipments and storage exposures; submitting claims and tracking settlements; viewing policy terms and documentation; analyzing trends on shipments and losses and automatically rating policies.
Fireman’s Fund McGee Marine Underwriters was the first U.S. insurer to license the software that powers the FOCUS Solution. The company began rolling out the system with select customers in pilot offices in third-quarter 2001. Based on user feedback, the decision was recently made to take the program nationwide.
The FOCUS Solution automates and eliminates manual functions. All information is entered and retained in a secured, centralized database. Using a single platform for managing and maintaining data avoids redundancies. It also enhances communication by improving the flow of information and facilitating a new level of collaboration between business partners.
The FOCUS Solution is a Web-based solution and does not require any special hardware. All that is needed is an Internet connection.
