As the U.S. House of Representatives Government Efficiency, Financial Management and Intergovernmental Relations Subcommittee prepares to mark up privacy legislation, the Alliance of American Insurers reiterated its support for HR 583.
This legislation would create a commission to study how lawmakers can protect individual privacy rights while also protecting access to information. Within eighteen months, the commission would then produce a report to help guide Congress in creating balanced privacy-protection legislation.
