Former Ohio Supreme Court justice Judith L. French has been appointed as the next director of the Ohio Department of Insurance, Interim Director Tynesia Dorsey announced.
French’s appointment is effective Feb. 8.
In addition to serving as a justice, French has also been a member of the Ohio Tenth District Court of Appeals, chief counsel to Ohio Governor Bob Taft, chief counsel to Ohio Attorney General Betty Montgomery, and deputy director for legal affairs at the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
She is a graduate of the Ohio State University and the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.
Dorsey, who has been serving as interim director of the department for several months, will transition back to her role as chief administrative officer.
