Michigan law enforcement officials are kicking off a seat belt enforcement campaign that’s scheduled to run through the end of the month.
The Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning says Michigan landmarks will be “buckling up” to celebrate Seat Belt Safety Awareness Day. The top of downtown Detroit’s Renaissance Center is to feature the “Click It Or Ticket” campaign logo. An event is planned nearby on Monday morning at Jefferson Chevrolet.
The effort will encourage motorists to comply with the state’s seat belt law and reduce traffic deaths and serious injuries.
Law enforcement officers from police departments, sheriff’s offices and the Michigan State Police will conduct stepped up seat belt enforcement in all of Michigan’s counties during the campaign. Enforcement began Monday and runs through May 31.
