Matthew J. Nielsen has been promoted to vice president of Commercial Claims at Founders Insurance Co., a member company of the Utica National Insurance Group, of Des Plaines, Ill.
Nielsen’s responsibilities include leading a unit of claims managers and analysts, providing guidance and direction in working with commercial policyholders to resolve liability claims against their businesses. He will lead the development of coverage and claim handling protocols to enhance operational efficiency in the commercial unit.
Nielsen joined Founders in August 2011 as a commercial claims manager, bringing to the position extensive experience in the legal and insurance industries. He served as an associate, senior associate and then partner with respected insurance coverage law firms, later working in the Excess Casualty unit of Zurich Insurance Co. before joining Founders.
