Iowan Imprisoned for Unlicensed Insurance Sales

July 18, 2012

A 40-year-old Sioux City, Iowa, man has been sentenced to five years in prison for selling insurance without a license.

The Sioux City Journal reports that Douglas Inlay was sentenced on July 16 in Woodbury County District Court. Inlay also was given a suspended sentence of 25 years for commission of a specified unlawful activity and insurance fraud. He must serve four years on probation for those convictions after he leaves prison.

Prosecutors say Inlay sold policies and filed claims through his company, Agency One Insurance, from Nov. 8, 2010, to June 7, 2011. The state had revoked his insurance license on Nov. 2, 2010.
