Indiana Senate Democratic Leader Vi Simpson is leading a national group of lawmakers looking to streamline insurance policy across the states.

The National Conference of Insurance Legislators elected Simpson as its president-elect. The group works with state and federal lawmakers on health, life, workers’ compensation and other insurance issues.

Simpson says the group works to standardize insurance rules throughout the states. The group also lobbies the federal government on behalf of the states.
