Kansas Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger has spent four times as much money as her only rival in her campaign for a third term.
Praeger, of Lawrence, faces El Dorado insurance agent David Powell in the Aug. 3 Republican primary. No Democrats or members of any other parties are seeking the post.
Powell and Praeger filed campaign finance reports July 26 covering their activities from Jan. 1 through July 22.
Combined with numbers from earlier finance reports, Praeger lists total spending since January 2009 of more than $140,000 in her bid for re-election.
Powell has been active in the tea party movement, and he has spent about $33,000 on his campaign since the beginning of last year.
