North dakota insurance agents are seeing more Fargo homeowners interested in flood insurance, after a winter of heavy snow and forecasts of spring flooding
Ken Kraft is an American Family Insurance agent in south Fargo. He says it’s been the top thing his office has been talking to people about.
State Farm agent Jill Henning said she’s also seen an increase in the number of people asking about flood insurance.
Dawn Lovett works for Farmers Union Insurance. She bought flood coverage for her home in north Fargo next to the El Zagal Golf Course.
Kraft says the policies have a 30-day waiting period before they take effect.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency is revising its flood plain map, which could require more people to carry flood insurance. The revised map is expected to be published this summer.
