A nonprofit group that promotes police officer safety is to pay $450,000 to Missouri after allegations from the attorney general’s office that it continued to solicit money from residents who had asked it to stop.
Attorney General Jay Nixon’s office says a St. Louis judge issued a consent order on June 11 involving the Police Protective Fund.
Nixon’s office said it obtained a temporary restraining order in September after receiving about 1,000 complaints from Missourians who said the group made repeated fundraising calls to them long after being asked to stop.
Nixon’s office says the agreement also prohibits the Los Angeles-based group from contacting Missourians on the state’s no-call list for at least two years.
