The president of North Dakota’s largest health insurance provider has been fined $500 after pleading guilty to drunken driving.
Mike Unhjem, 52, of Fargo, pleaded guilty Tuesday. Judge Steven Cahill stayed a 90-day jail sentence for two years.
Unhjem was charged with misdemeanor drunken driving after a traffic stop that authorities said was prompted by a reported burglary at a Moorhead home in late March. A police report said the officer who stopped Unhjem smelled alcohol and asked Unhjem to take a sobriety test.
Police arrested Unhjem after a breath test showed a 0.11 percent blood alcohol level, which is 0.03 percent above Minnesota’s legal limit. At the jail, Unhjem took a second test that showed a blood alcohol level of 0.13 percent.
