Southfield, Mich.-based announced that Stephen A. Belden has joined the company as chief actuary.
Belden has nearly 20 years of actuarial experience in the insurance industry, according to a statement released by Meadowbrook. Most recently, he was chief actuary of Zurich North America Construction, where he also previously served as chief financial officer.
In this position, Belden supervised a 12-person staff which developed pricing models for large and middle market casualty products. Prior to joining Zurich, Belden was assistant vice president and actuary at Orion Capital Cos. His career also includes actuarial positions with Tillinghast and Touche, Ross & Co., St. Paul Cos., and Aetna Life & Casualty.
