The Travelers Companies, Inc. announced that Matthew Wilson has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Travelers Europe, subject to regulatory approval. He has served as Chief Operating Officer of Travelers Europe since 2012.
Kevin Smith, President of Travelers International, described Wilson as a “great fit to olead the company; adding that he “has proven himself to be a talented leader, and we are pleased that, as CEO, he will continue to build upon the strong foundation we have established in this market.”
Wilson said he is looking “forward to leveraging the tremendous talent of our team to continue to strengthen our European operations.”
Wilson succeeds Sean Genden, who has been appointed Travelers International Business Insurance Lead, with responsibility for the company’s Business Insurance strategy outside the United States.
Prior to joining Travelers, Wilson held a variety of positions at Willis Group Ltd., including Chief Operating Officer, Global Specialties division, and Director of Compliance and Legal Affairs. A solicitor by training, Wilson moved into insurance when he joined Legal & General in 1996.
