Lloyd’s insurer Ascot Underwriting Ltd. announced the appointment of John Pilkington as Head of Casualty, effective February 4, 2013, and subject to regulatory approval. He has more than 25 years’ underwriting experience and joins Ascot from Barbican Managing Agency Limited where he was Active Underwriter for Syndicate 1955.
Ascot’s Chief Executive Andrew Brooks noted Pilkington’s “wealth of experience, skillset and successful track record,” which he indicated would “allow Ascot to offer its clients underwriting expertise in this complex class.
“Our move into Casualty represents a shift in our risk appetite that links to our five-year plan. The initial focus will be on Casualty Reinsurance but we will be able to write all lines as market conditions dictate,” Brooks added.
Pilkington stated that he is “pleased to be joining Ascot at such an important stage of their strategic development. Launching and developing Ascot’s Casualty business presents me with a new and exciting challenge in a dynamic and ambitious business. I am very much looking forward to my future with them.”
