The National Hurricane Center in Miami is currently tracking Tropical Storm Chris, the third named storm of the current Atlantic hurricane season, but it does not expect it to cause any damage on land.
According to the NHC’s most recent bulletin Chris was located about 565 miles (910 kms) south-southwest of Cape Race Newfoundland with maximum sustained winds of 45 mph (75 km/h), and tropical storm force winds extending outward up to 70 miles (110 kms) from the center.
The storm is “accelerating east-southeastward over the North Atlantic away from land,” at 13 mph (20 km/h) the NHC said. It forecasts “little change in strength” over the next 48 hours, and it expects Chris “to become a post-tropical cyclone by Thursday morning.”
There are no land warnings in effect.
