International specialist insurer Hiscox Ltd. announced the appointment of two healthcare underwriters to Hiscox Bermuda, subject to immigration approvals.
Ian Thompson (Senior Vice President – Healthcare) and Nick Williamson (Vice President – Healthcare) “join Hiscox to build a portfolio of healthcare liability business, complementing existing business written by Hiscox in London and the USA,” said the bulletin. “The new team will focus on providing tailored coverage for larger, well-run health institutions.”
Thompson and Williamson join Hiscox from Endurance Specialty Insurance Ltd. Thompson formerly ran the Healthcare team at Catlin Group (London) from 1998 to 2006. Williamson, a qualified actuary, worked for Endurance for seven years and at ACE before that.
Charles Dupplin, Chief Executive of Hiscox Bermuda, expressed pleasure that the two men had joined Hiscox, and noted that the Company would benefit from their “strong reputation and wealth of experience. He added that the move was also a “step towards providing more specialist products underwritten locally in the Bermudian market.”
