Lloyd’s has issued the following statement regarding policies and claims related to losses from Hurricane Katrina:
“Lloyd’s policyholders affected by Hurricane Katrina with questions about their insurance policies and coverage should first try to contact their independent agent or broker through whom Lloyd’s coverage was obtained.
“However, in these extreme circumstances, Lloyd’s recognizes that normal communications are not always possible. Therefore, Lloyd’s has established a special toll-free hotline number as well as a dedicated email address for US policyholders who are unable to reach their broker or agent.
“This is not a claims processing center and the US team will not be able to confirm policy coverage. However, they are available to provide assistance to help put you in touch with the correct underwriters and claims personnel.”
Interested parties may contact the Lloyd’s America Helpline at :(866) 264-2533; or by E-mail at: katrina@lloyds.com
The bulletin also noted that, although the office was closed for the Labor Day Holiday, claims personnel remained available to help policholders.
