The World Trade Organization in Geneva announced that it was postponing meetings on China’s admission to the world body until next week as a result of the terrorist attacks on the U.S.
Informal talks, concentrating on resolving the differences between the European Union and AIG over its privileged position in China’s life insurance market, will continue, a WTO spokesman indicated.
Taiwan’s pending admission to the WTO was also put off until next week, and will be considered if and when China is admitted.
