Mapfre America bought a stake of 32.9 percent — a total of 18.1 million shares costing — in Venezuelan insurance group La Seguridad through the Caracas stock market as the last stage in its public offer for the latter operation which has given Mapfre America 94.38 percent control of La Seguridad (it owned 62 percent prior to this month’s public offer).
La Seguridad does not trade on the Caracas floor and is Venezuela’s sector leader.
