Japan’s main island was shaken by a pair of moderate earthquakes Friday, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, AP reported.
The first quake struck at 4:14 p.m. and was centered about in Iwate state, about 240 miles north from Tokyo, the Meteorological Agency stated. It had a preliminary magnitude of 4.9.
The second quake, with a magnitude of 4.4, struck nearly five hours later in Yamanashi state. It shook buildings in downtown Tokyo, about 72 miles to the northeast.
