A small private plane with only the pilot on board crashed at Provincetown Municipal Airport on Cape Cod on Sunday.
The pilot was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to officials of the Massachusetts seaside town, the plane crash took place about 3:15 pm. The aircraft caught fire and was extinguished by the fire department. The airport was closed.
The pilot has not been identified. No other deaths or injuries were reported.
Officials said the cause of the crash is unknown at this time and will be investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The Federal Aviation Agency and Massachusetts State Police have been notified.
