Authorities are investigating whether two suspicious fires in Vermont are connected.
One of the fires happened Saturday at an auto repair shop in Putney, Vermont State Police said.
The blaze caused extensive damage to the shop and is believed to be the result of “direct human involvement,” police said.
Police said they are looking into whether the blaze is connected to another suspicious fire of a residential trailer and vehicle on an abandoned property in Putney last Saturday.
Police said a third fire was also reported in nearby Dummerston.
A man told authorities he placed a chair at the end of his driveway on Friday afternoon and later discovered that the chair had been lit on fire, police said.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to call Vermont State Police in Westminster.
