The Maine River Flow Advisory Commission says there is a below average chance of flooding this spring in most of the state, with the exception of the northern reaches.
The commission says the chance of flooding in northern Maine is about average in areas where there is still a large amount of snow and ice.
It says recently surveys show the water content in the snowpack is in the lowest 10 to 25 percent of the last 10 years.
The National Weather Service says temperatures during the next two weeks will likely be above average for this time of the year. The amount of river ice is also below the normal range in most of Maine because of mild winter weather and the steady flow of streams.
