New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo has announced the appointment of Mary Beth Woods as executive director of the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board, where she had been acting director.
Woods succeeds Mark Wade who left the executive director post last December to join Argo Group’s U.S. operations as chief claims officer.
Woods has worked at the Workers’ Compensation Board for over 15 years, and held titles including deputy executive director, director of Financial Administration and director of Licensing.
From 1990-1998, Woods worked at the New York State Division of the Budget, where she was an associate budget examiner. She was also supervising senior accountant at KPMG Peat Marwick.
Woods is currently a Board member of the New York Compensation Insurance Rating Board and has previously served as chair of the Governor’s Task Force on Group Self Insurance. She is a certified public accountant in New York State.
