Insurance swindler and former international fugitive Martin Frankel has been sentenced to six months in prison for violating the terms of his release.
Prosecutors say a federal judge in New Haven, Connecticut, sentenced the 61-year-old convict on Dec. 3.
Frankel was released in September after serving more than 10 years in prison for plotting to cheat insurance companies out of $200 million to pay for a luxurious lifestyle that included a Greenwich, Connecticut, mansion, cars and diamonds.
Authorities say Frankel violated the rules of the Hartford, Connecticut, residence where he lived following his release.
Frankel defrauded insurance companies he purchased in several states through a trust set up to hide his involvement. He became the target of an international manhunt when he disappeared in 1999 and was later arrested in Germany.
