Universal Insurance Holdings Inc. in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, announced on July 21 that its wholly-owned subsidiary Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Company (UPCIC) received a certificate of authority from the Virginia State Corporation Commission approving UPCIC as a licensed insurance entity in Virginia.
Virginia is the 13th state in which UPCIC is now licensed, Universal Insurance Holdings said.
UPCIC is one of the leading writers of homeowners insurance in Florida and is licensed to offer its homeowners insurance products in Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and now Virginia.
