New Jersey Captive Insurance Association (NJCIA) this week announced the appointment of Sheila Small as its executive director.
She will lead the association’s mission to develop professional opportunities for its captive insurance industry members and promote a nurturing environment for the New Jersey captive insurance industry.
Small spent 21 years in risk management at Verizon. During those years she was responsible for captive operations. New Jersey Captive Insurance Association said that under her watch, Verizon’s captive insurance operation grew to be one of the largest in premium written in the United States, with over 75 percent of Verizon’s insurance spend underwritten by the captive.
Founded in November 2009, NJCIA helped advance the passage of the captive insurance laws in New Jersey. NJCIA said there are currently 10 captives domiciled in the Garden State.
