New York officials and Catholic Charities have announced a $38.5 million program to provide more than 200 coordinators to help residents hurt by Superstorm Sandy recover and get access to needed services.
The Disaster Case Management Program provides supplemental federal funding officials say will be used for service coordinators in the 13 counties hardest hit by the storm.
They are to serve as a single point of contact for all government- and insurance-related assistance.
It follows a similar program run by Catholic Charities in 34 counties across the state after tropical storms Irene and Lee in 2011.

More than 250,000 New Yorkers have applied for federal disaster-related services.
