XL Group’s North America property/casualty insurance group appointed Lorraine Seib as president of its excess casualty team.
Based in New York, Seib will manage XL’s global excess casualty business with underwriting operations in New York, Bermuda, Dublin, London and Toronto, as well as U.S. field operations in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
She reports to Seraina Maag, chief executive of XL’s North America property/casualty insurance group.
Seib is an industry veteran, with more than 30 years of insurance underwriting and management experience. She joins XL from Travelers where she served as president of excess casualty since 2005. In that role, she managed Travelers’ excess casualty business, including its lead umbrella business, with underwriting capabilities in 22 offices.
Previously, she had also served as St. Paul/Travelers’ chief underwriting officer for excess casualty, stepping into this position following St. Paul’s acquisition of Kemper’s excess casualty business unit, where she also served as chief underwriting officer. Her professional career also includes tenure with Reliance National and Chubb Custom Market.
