Aspen Insurance Holdings appointed Mario Vitale as co-CEO of Aspen Insurance, effective Jan. 1, 2012. He replaces John Cavoores who will be leaving that post at the end of the year.
He will work jointly with Rupert Villers, co-CEO of Aspen Insurance, in developing the company’s insurance operations. Vitale will also maintain his current role as president of Aspen U.S. Insurance.
Vitale joined Aspen in March 2011. Previously, he worked at Zurich Financial Services, where he was CEO of global corporate unit. He has more than three decades’ experience in the industry.
Prior to joining Zurich in 2006, he served with Willis Group Holdings for six years and as CEO of Willis North America for four years. He began his career at the Home Insurance Company.
