Connecticut Teen Injured in Gym Class Sues Town

By | July 21, 2011

The family of a Trumbull High School student is suing the town and the Board of Education after being struck in the head by a tennis ball in gym class.

Krisen Sileio’s lawyer told the Connecticut Post the teen suffered a traumatic brain injury, memory loss and has persistent post-concussion syndrome from the incident, which happened in 2008, when she was 14-years old.

Sileio’s lawyer said she was injured while students were playing a baseball-like game with a racket and ball. Sean McElligott says the school was negligent in allowing the game in such a confined space, and did not give students any protective equipment.

Trumbull Superintendent Ralph Iassogna declined to comment on the case, because of the litigation.

Sileo’s family is seeking unspecified damages to cover medical expenses.
