A federal agency is fining a New Hampshire paper company for intentional safety violations in the death of a 34-year-old worker who was pulled through a paper rolling machine.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has fined the APC Paper company of Claremont $288,000 for not having safety precautions in place.
Leo Gonyea of Enfield died in July 2010 after being pulled into a rolling machine.
OSHA said that the oversights included not having mechanisms that would spare workers from hand-feeding materials into a paper rolling machine.
The company has 15 days to pay or contest the fines. APC’s human resources manager Laura Gilbert says the company has no comment on the fines.
