Delaware House lawmakers have approved a bill that aims to help job seekers by classifying driving offenses as violations, not misdemeanors.
Rep. John Mitchell says he sponsored the bill because he thinks applicants shouldn’t be denied jobs for failing to use a turn signal. The Senate will now consider the bill for offenses where the defendant can check a box and avoid a court hearing.
Rep. Helene Keeley’s bill, also passed before the House recessed Monday for two weeks, lets competent adults decide who can visit them at a hospital, nursing home or nursing facility.
But the bill won’t allow patients to overrule a facility’s visitation policy when a medical condition, court orders or visitation hours are involved.
