Massachusetts auto insurance fraud investigators say they will set up shop in the seacoast town of Revere, continuing a model that has had success in several other cities and towns with high claims rates.
The Insurance Fraud Bureau of Massachusetts, the Revere Police Department and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office plan to launch a public awareness campaign offering a reward of up to $5,000 from the Insurance Fraud Bureau for information leading to the arrest and conviction of perpetrators of auto insurance fraud in Revere.
Revere is among the communities with the highest rates of auto accidents and injuries in Massachusetts and, consequently, among the highest costs for auto insurance.
The groups plan to hold a press conference Monday morning, Jan. 8, in Revere to launch the initiative.
Those spearheading the initiative include Daniel J. Johnston, Executive Director, Insurance Fraud Bureau of Massachusetts; Thomas G. Ambrosino, Mayor of Revere; Terence Reardon, Chief of Police, Revere; and Daniel F. Conley, District Attorney, Suffolk County.
