The state Supreme Court has agreed with a lower court ruling that keeps a candidate convicted of insurance fraud off the ballot for the state’s 51st Legislative District race.
Michael J. Cavanagh was running as an independent against six-term Democratic incumbent Larry Roberts of Uniontown. Cavanagh was thrown off the ballot after a supporter of another candidate said Cavanagh’s 2001 conviction involving a rental-car claim should bar his candidacy.
The Supreme Court affirmed the lower court’s ruling.
