The Professional Insurance Agents of New York State Inc. is calling for nominations for its 2003 Certified Insurance Counselor scholarship opportunities. Selected individuals will receive a $350 scholarship to one CIC institute. Only first-time CIC participants are eligible; the deadline for nominations is Friday, Sept. 26.
“The CIC designation is a valuable asset for independent insurance agents to have,” said David Isenberg, president of PIANY. “The advantages in the insurance industry provided by the designation are felt by both the designees and their employers.”
Candidates should be strongly committed to continuing education and a career in insurance. The award is only applicable to CIC institutes in New York state.
To qualify an applicant must:
路Be new to the CIC program;
路Be employed by a PIANY member;
路Be employed full time in the insurance industry;
路Be a licensed agent, broker, solicitor or have at least two years of full-time experience as a practitioner in insurance or risk management or have served at least two years as a full-time insurance faculty member at an accredited college or university;
路Be willing and able to invest the time and additional expenses to complete the five CIC institutes within five years of passing his/her first exam; and
路Take the examination at the end of each institute.
The awards will be presented to the recipients during PIANY’s James K. Ruble Graduate Seminar Nov. 5, West Point, N.Y.
