Peggy Ann Cox of West Virginia has pled guilty in federal court on two counts of fraud.
According to The Charleston Gazette, Cox made the plea to Chief U.S. District Judge Charles Haden II, admitting that between December 1992 and January 2001 she filed a number of false injury claims to defraud the West Virginia Workers’ Compensation program.
Using false names, social security numbers, and dates of birth to evade insurance investigators, Cox filed claims against a Hardee’s eatery, a Fairfield Inn, and the Prime of Life New Beginning personal care facility. False claims were also made against Taco Bell, Wendy’s, Western Sizzler, and Wal-Mart.
