New York’s Insurance Department Superintendent Gregory V. Serio continued his string of appointments (See IJ Website April 18) with the announcement that Joseph A. DeMauro CPCU, ARe, has been named to the post of Deputy Superintendent, effective immediately.
He will coordinate various Department management initiatives working directly with the Senior Deputy Superintendent. DeMauro previously served as Special Counsel and Managing Attorney for Corporate Affairs in the Department’s Liquidation Bureau, where he was responsible for resolving various legal issues concerning insurance and reinsurance law, insolvency law, directors, officers and agents liability, and coverage issues,” said the announcement. It also noted that he was one of only five persons out of 1,244 who achieved top honors for his performance in last October’s CPCU examination, receiving the CPCU Award for Academic Excellence from the CPCU-Harry J. Loman Foundation and the American Institute. .
“I am pleased to welcome Joe as our newest Deputy Superintendent,” Serio stated. “His extensive experience in management and legal issues will be a tremendous asset to the Department and I look forward to Joe’s contributions as he assumes his new responsibilities.”
