The Pennsylvania Insurance Fraud Prevention Authority (IFPA) honored the work of two veteran insurance investigators, Nationwide’s George K. Butler and Erie’s Richard K. Fritz, with its first ever “Fraud Fighter Awards.”
Butler, a special investigator in Nationwide’s Philadelphia office, and Fritz, an investigator in Erie Insurance’s Investigative Services Section assigned to the Allentown-Bethlehem market, were singled out by IFPA Executive Director Roy A.Miller as exemplifying “the professionalism and tenacity that is required to beat back this crime.” They were nominated by the District Attorneys’ Offices in Delaware and Lehigh Counties for their exceptional investigative work.
“There are people out there who feel the insurance industry ‘owes them,’ that it’s OK to pad a claims report, fake an injury, or even stage a theft to get something back,” Miller stated. “That misguided thinking leads to higher costs for consumers who, more likely than not, have no idea how much of a debt of gratitude they owe to good fraud investigators like Dick Fritz and George Butler. We know–and that’s why we’re honoring these two here today,” he concluded.
