Employees of the Insurance Council of Texas have contributed over $2,000 to national organizations and relief funds set up to assist victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The organization and its employees also donated 173 pounds of food to the Austin Food Bank. The fund raising efforts included a fund raising luncheon, “Come Together and Celebrate America;” the raffle of a “United We Stand” tapestry afghan purchased by the Council; and individual employee donations. Employees raised $1,153, which was matched by a $1,000 donation from the Insurance Council. The food donations were in support of the Austin food Bank’s Hometown Harvest 2001 campaign. The 173 pounds of food will help the food bank provide 138 meals to low-income Austin residents.
