Farmers Insurance Group of Companies filed an endorsement to the new homeowners’ policy it plans to offer in Texas, the HOA, with the Department of Insurance. The endorsement expands the policy to include limited coverage for water, falling of trees or limbs, weight of ice, snow, or sleet, building collapse, and breakage of glass. Farmers announced it intends to work with the Department of Insurance to gain approval of the endorsement. The company’s new HOA policy was offered after it announced plans to non-renew its current homeowners’ policy, the HOB, due to rising mold claims costs.
