Florida insurance fraud investigators arrested two unlicensed public adjusters, one in Broward County and one in Orange County. These arrests bring the total to seven unlicensed public adjusters arrested in the aftermath of last fall’s hurricanes.
Arthur Lambright, owner of Lambright Claims Consultants formerly located in Miramar, and Gregory Hastings, DBA Greg Hastings Designs in Orlando, face felony charges.
Investigators with the Florida Department of Financial Services’ Division of Insurance Fraud and the Division of Agent and Agency Services, Bureau of Investigations said one of Lambright’s former clients reported that he added additional rooms to her damage claim and told her that was the way he conducts business. Lambright is charged with working as a public adjuster without a license, insurance fraud and grand theft. He could face up to five years’ in prison.
The investigation against Hastings is based on information from Florida Farm Bureau Insurance and Allstate Insurance. The insurers reported that Hastings submitted a “retainer agreement” on behalf of homeowners, requesting a 10 percent fee, but both companies found that Hastings was unlicensed and reported him.
Hastings is charged with two counts of working as a public adjuster without a license. He could face up to five years in prison on each charge.
