State insurance department officials report that Montana licensed 34 new captive insurance companies in 2014, bringing the state’s total number of licensed captives to 177.
In addition to the 34 new captive insurance company licenses, the number of series business units grew by 19 and there were 29 new captive cells added during the course of last year, according to the department.
